You will in Mariannelund find a Tourist office that will give you a nice and personal respond. It is named Emilkraften. The people working there are always willing to help you with whatever need you might have. Emilkraften is situated at the library by the main square.

When visiting Mariannelund, please do not forget to visit the small but famous sweet factory where you will find all kinds of handmade sweets. The factory has been run by the very same family since 1929. They offer you a great variety of gift boxes but also traditional sweets that you pick yourself according to your taste.

We are happy to recommend a very nice restaurant, named Sommartorpet, just outside the village. If you wish you can go for a walk through the forest to get there. Why don´t youmake a stop to have a swim in a romantic little lake? You can also reach the restaurant by car or bicycle. The restaurant is situated in an idyllic valley by the rivulet Silverån. They offer you a few dishes, made with love, to a very reasonable price. You also have the opportunity to play mini-golf or have a swim at a beach with jetties and a tower.

Are you interested in fishing? Then you are lucky! The surroundings of Mariannelund offer many small forest lakes. You can buy the fishing permission at the tourist office Emilkraften, the gas station Preem or the Spilhammar camping.

If you wish a more simple accommodation in Mariannelund there is modern camping where you can put your tent or rent a small hut. You can also buy the fishing permission, rent canoes, rowing boats and life wests.

The Astrid Lindgren´s world is of course the main attraction in the area. There you will find a great number of sceneries from the beloved stories. There are also several theater scenes giving free plays all day. The restaurants in the park offer traditional food. The park is situated 20 km from Mariannelund.

Emil of Lönneberga lived at the farm Katthult, ( Gibberyd) situated only 10 km from Mariannelund. When visiting the farm you can pat the animals, see all the buildings that you recognize from the Emil movies and have a break in the café. There is also a gift shop with traditional crafts besides “Emil souvenirs”.

If you go 5 km from Mariannelund you will find the tiny village Sevedstorp where Astrid Lindgren´s father August spent his childhood. You will recognize the houses from the movies about the Bullerby children.

In 2017 a new permanent indoor exhibition about the Astrid Lindgren movies was opened outside of Mariannelund. Here you can see some of the sceneries from the shootings and try out what it is like to be a movie producer using modern equipment. The exhibition offers a café with some basic dishes and an ice cream parlor.
